(Phnom Penh): Sam Meychou, the 27-year-old woman accused of causing a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a Ministry of Public Works and Transport official, has surrendered to Phnom Penh Municipal Police after a two-day manhunt.

She was handed over to authorities by her family on Thursday morning (Jul. 30) and is now in police custody to face legal proceedings.

According to police, Meychou was driving a luxury AVATR 11 with Cambodian license plate V.C.8989 when she allegedly crossed into the opposite lane while overtaking another vehicle, crashing head-on into a Honda Scoopy motorcycle.

The crash occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on July 28 along Street 1003 in Khmuonh Commune, Sen Sok District. The motorcyclist died at the scene.

The victim was identified as Kuoch Limhan, 35, a native of Kang Meas District, Kampong Cham Province, who served as an official at the Construction and Public Works Laboratory under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

Following the crash, Phnom Penh traffic police examined the scene and seized both the AVATR 11 and the motorcycle as evidence. The investigation remains ongoing.
