(Phnom Penh): Cambodia recorded USD 4.3 billion in net investment inflows during the first half of 2026, equal to 15.5% of GDP, according to the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC).

The figure is seven times higher than the same period last year, driven mainly by strong foreign direct investment (FDI) and other capital inflows.

Net FDI reached USD 2.6 billion, up 18.5% year-on-year, led by a 110.9% surge in financial sector investment. Manufacturing investment rose 14%, energy 23.3%, and construction 0.1%, while agriculture, real estate, and hotel and entertainment sectors saw slight declines.

Other investments recorded a USD 1.1 billion net inflow, reversing a USD 2.5 billion net outflow in the first half of 2025. The NBC attributed the turnaround to lower overseas deposits and a 27.1% increase in government net borrowing.
