(Phnom Penh): Singaporean national Siti Aishan Siregar binte Siregar, who was previously reported missing after traveling to Cambodia, confirmed that she came to the country voluntarily and was not a victim of human trafficking, online scam operations, or any form of abuse.

The clarification came after Cambodian authorities located her safe at a condominium in Phnom Penh following a request for assistance from her parents. The search was coordinated by the Ministry of Interior through the General Department of Immigration and the Phnom Penh Municipal Police.

In a video statement addressed to local and international media, Siti said she traveled to Cambodia of her own free will to seek employment as an English teacher after facing personal and family difficulties in Singapore. She added that she was neither forced nor deceived into coming to Cambodia and has never been involved in, or coerced into participating in, online scam operations or any other criminal activities.

During interviews with Cambodian authorities, Siti also explained that she had voluntarily cut off communication with her family because of personal issues, stressing that her disappearance was unrelated to any criminal activity. She urged the public and media to stop spreading false information and to respect the facts surrounding her case.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that Siti is safe and receiving appropriate care and assistance from the relevant authorities. It also thanked the law enforcement agencies involved in the operation and reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to protecting the safety and well-being of everyone within its territory.
