(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet outlined four key recommendations to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport aimed at accelerating education reform, with an emphasis on quality, equity, digital transformation, and human capital development to meet the demands of the digital economy.

Speaking at the Royal University of Law and Economics' graduation ceremony on Thursday (Aug. 6), Samdech Thipadei called for the following priorities:

First, strengthen digital education by improving school digital infrastructure, enhancing online learning resources, expanding technology-based teaching, and building better digital platforms to prepare for the future labour market.

Second, invest in human capital development to build a skilled, adaptable workforce capable of responding to rapid technological change, global competition, and evolving economic conditions.

Third, promote digital literacy and responsible online behaviour by expanding access to digital education, strengthening technology integration in schools, and supporting lifelong skills development.

Fourth, raise education quality by strengthening teacher and school leadership, modernising curricula, improving learning resources, and fostering 21st-century teaching and learning practices.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also underlined that university leaders, lecturers, and academic staff must continue enhancing their expertise, teaching methods, research capacity, and digital competencies to serve as educators, mentors, researchers, and innovators.

He added that integrating academic knowledge with practical application is essential to improving education quality and ensuring graduates are well prepared for future challenges.
