(Phnom Penh): Under the close guidance of Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary, Cambodia is finalising preparations to host the 9th Asia-Pacific Parliamentarian Forum on Global Health (APPF-GH) from 11 to 13 August 2026, at the National Assembly Palace under the theme “Universal Health Coverage in the Era of Climate Change and Artificial Intelligence.”

A final meeting on Thursday (Aug.) reviewed the preparations by Chairwoman Lork Kheng of the National Assembly's Commission 8 and Chairman Hon. Yos Phanita of the Senate's Commission 2.

National Assembly officials said protocol, programmes, hospitality, logistics, security and technical arrangements are in their final stages, with a full rehearsal scheduled for Monday.

The forum is expected to bring delegations from 16 member countries and one observer country, with the first international delegation due to arrive in Phnom Penh on 8 August.

The three-day forum will focus on Universal Health Coverage (UHC), parliamentary governance, climate change and health, and artificial intelligence, and will conclude with a consideration of the Phnom Penh Communiqué.

Delegates will also visit health facilities in Kampot Province to learn about Cambodia’s community-based primary healthcare and private-sector contributions to the health system.

The 9th APPF-GH aims to strengthen parliamentary cooperation in advancing global health and promoting sustainable, resilient, and inclusive healthcare systems across the Asia-Pacific region.
