(Phnom Penh): The National Assembly of Cambodia, in cooperation with the World Health Organisation (WHO), is hosting the 9th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum on Global Health (9th APPF-GH) from August 11 to 13 at the National Assembly Palace in Phnom Penh.

Under the theme “Universal Health Coverage in the Era of Climate Change and Artificial Intelligence,” the forum brings together delegations from 16 countries, including parliamentarians, health ministers, development partners, and experts, to exchange insights on strengthening regional healthcare.

Ouch Borith, First Vice President of the Senate, presided over the opening ceremony, while the forum is scheduled to conclude on 13 August under the presidency of Cheam Yeap, First Vice President of the National Assembly.

Key discussions focus on universal health coverage (UHC), parliamentary governance, climate change, and AI in healthcare. Delegates will also conduct field visits to health centres in Kampot province to observe local service delivery.

Cambodia is using the event to showcase its Roadmap Towards Universal Health Coverage in Cambodia 2024-2035, reinforcing its commitment to an inclusive healthcare system that leaves no one behind.

The event marks the first time Cambodia has hosted the APPF-GH, reflecting the Kingdom's growing engagement in regional parliamentary and health diplomacy.
 
Established in 2015 with support from WHO, the APPF-GH provides a regional platform for parliamentarians to strengthen cooperation, exchange policy experiences, and advance health and well-being across the Asia-Pacific.
