(Phnom Penh): THE COMBINATION brought together Cambodian designers, artists, models, hairstylists, makeup artists, performers, and music creators for a fashion event held in Phnom Penh on Monday evening (Aug. 17), featuring a 13-minute runway performance that combined fashion, beauty, music, and live performance into a single visual presentation.

The event, supported by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (ItaCham), began with guest registration from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., followed by the main fashion show from 8:15 p.m. to 8:40 p.m. and a DJ after-party from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

According to the organisers, guests arrived nearly an hour before the runway presentation, creating an atmosphere of anticipation before the main performance began.

The event was designed to highlight mainly local designers and artists, while also reflecting Italy’s long-standing connection with fashion and creative industries. ItaCham supported the initiative as part of its efforts to encourage the development and growth of Cambodia’s fashion and creative sectors.

Once the runway opened, the performance brought together fashion, hairstyling, makeup, music, lighting, and movement as elements of one continuous visual story.

Rather than presenting each creative element separately, THE COMBINATION was structured as a compact and immersive performance in which every look, hairstyle, makeup style, movement, and musical transition contributed to the overall presentation.

The organisers said the 13-minute duration was an intentional creative choice, designed to maintain the audience’s attention from the opening moment through the finale without unnecessary interruption.

Behind the scenes, designers, models, hairstylists, makeup artists, performers, and production teams worked to prepare the final details before the show, with much of the creative work remaining unseen until it was presented on the runway.

The event also provided an opportunity for Cambodian creative professionals to showcase their work and demonstrate how different areas of the creative industry can come together in a single production.

For THE COMBINATION, the organisers said the impact of a fashion show should not be measured only by its duration, but by the experience and impression it leaves with the audience.

The event concluded with a DJ after-party, bringing together participants and guests following the runway presentation.

THE COMBINATION was held under the theme “Different Visions. One Story.”, highlighting the organisers’ aim to bring different creative disciplines and perspectives together through fashion and performance.
