(Phnom Penh): Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni said the Solidarity Palace, Cambodia’s new Senate building, symbolises the connection between the nation’s present pride and the glorious legacy of the Great Khmer Empire, whose ancient civilisation was renowned across the region and the world.
Speaking at the inauguration on Friday (Aug. 21), the king expressed deep appreciation to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Senate President, for envisioning and leading the construction of the palace on the historic site. He added that the building would become a valuable addition to Cambodia’s national heritage.
The king stated that the palace embodies national unity, strengthens Cambodia’s international prestige, and enhances the architectural beauty of the Chamkarmon State Palace complex, a legacy closely associated with the late King Father, Norodom Sihanouk.
He hailed the inauguration as a major achievement for the Cambodian people, noting that the name “Solidarity Palace” reflects the leadership philosophy that national reconciliation and unity are the foundations of peace, stability, and lasting prosperity.
King Sihamoni also credited Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s leadership, including the successful implementation of the Win-Win Policy, followed by the Triangular Strategy and Rectangular Strategy, alongside broad reforms across various sectors. These efforts, he noted, have driven Cambodia’s sustained development, peace, national solidarity, and strong economic growth for nearly two decades.
