(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call from Andrey Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, at the Peace Palace on Monday afternoon (Aug. 24).

Deputy Minister Rudenko reaffirmed Russia’s appreciation of Cambodia as a long-standing and trusted partner in the Asia-Pacific region, recalling the former Soviet Union’s and Russia’s historical contributions to the Kingdom's post-liberation restoration and socio-economic development.

Expressing confidence in Cambodia’s continued progress, Rudenko underlined opportunities for further expanding bilateral cooperation, notably through ongoing educational scholarships for Cambodian students. He also briefed Samdech Thipadei on the successful outcomes of the 3rd Bilateral Consultations between the two nations' foreign ministries.

In response, Samdech Thipadei expressed gratitude for Russia’s enduring support. Welcoming the recent consultations, the prime minister reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to elevating bilateral relations and cooperation to a new level.

Both sides also exchanged views on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, education, energy, people-to-people exchanges, tourism, agriculture, security, and defence.
