(Phnom Penh): UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific, Baroness Rosie Winterton, visited a community in Kok Prasat, Oddar Meanchey province, to observe firsthand the challenges facing families affected by border tensions and to assess the impact of UK-backed initiatives.

According to a social media post by the British Embassy in Cambodia on Wednesday (Aug. 26), the minister saw a UK-funded education programme in action, met inspiring children whose difficult experiences have not dimmed their commitment to learning, and listened to families and community leaders describe their priorities and needs.

Together with Oddar Meanchey Governor Mean Chanyada, the minister discussed how the UK can continue working with local partners to support affected communities and help children remain in school.

In challenging times, being present to engage with those most affected matters. Partnership and dialogue are also essential, the Embassy added.

According to the British Embassy, the United Kingdom reaffirmed its commitment to working with Cambodia and partners to support affected communities, keep children learning, and encourage peaceful dialogue and cooperation between Thailand and Cambodia.
