(Phnom Penh): UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific Baroness Rosie Winterton visited mine action teams in Siem Reap Province, reaffirming the United Kingdom’s continued support for Cambodia’s goal of becoming mine-free by 2030.

According to a social media post by the British Embassy in Cambodia, the minister observed the work of local Cambodian demining teams working with partners such as The HALO Trust Cambodia and APOPO, praising their daily dedication to saving lives and restoring land to local communities.

During her visit to The HALO Trust Cambodia, the minister saw how cleared land unlocks vital economic opportunities, noting that in 2025 alone, land cleared across the country generated over USD 1.3 million in economic value.

At APOPO, the minister learned about the impact of HeroRATs, which have been detecting landmines since 2016 to return safe land to farmers and boost rural incomes.

The United Kingdom has partnered with Cambodia on mine action for more than three decades, supporting efforts to clear explosive remnants of war and restore contaminated land to communities.

The UK reaffirmed its commitment to continuing this longstanding partnership and supporting Cambodia in its efforts to achieve its goal of becoming mine-free by 2030.
