(Phnom Penh): The ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia (AOT-KH) on Tuesday (Sep. 1) visited the Cham Yeam International Border Check Point in Koh Kong Province to conduct an observation, verification, and reporting mission following the entry into force of the ceasefire.

According to Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, the field visit was coordinated by the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) and led by the AOT-KH Head of Mission from the Philippines.

The delegation arrived at the Cham Yeam International Border Check Point, located in Cham Yeam Village, Pak Khlang Commune, Mondol Seima District, at approximately 09:35 a.m. to conduct observation, verification, and reporting on the ground.

According to the spokesperson, the mission aimed to ensure the proper implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, promote transparency and mutual trust, and move toward rapid normalization.

The ministry reaffirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia’s firm, sincere, and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on 27 December 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on 26 October 2025, and all other relevant agreements.

The ministry added that Cambodia consistently provided full support and continues to strengthen the role of the ASEAN Observer Team in ensuring the implementation of the ceasefire, promoting transparency, and building mutual trust between the two countries.
