(Phnom Penh): Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary extended her deepest condolences to Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, following devastating natural disasters along the Himalayan border, according to a letter seen by Fresh News on Tuesday (Sep. 1).

In the letter, Samdech Khuon Sudary conveyed heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the Cambodian National Assembly and people to the Chinese government and affected families dealing with the aftermath of recent flash floods and mudslides.

“I am deeply grieved by the news about the devastating natural disasters of the recent flash flood and mudslide along the Himalayan border between China and Nepal, which have caused tragic loss of lives, many injured and missing, the displacement of thousands of families, as well as enormous devastation of properties.”

Samdech Khuon Sudary expressed profound sorrow for the loss of loved ones and the widespread destruction caused by the disasters.

The National Assembly president also reaffirmed Cambodia's solidarity with China during this challenging period and wished for a rapid recovery for the affected regions.

“While standing in solidarity with the people of the People's Republic of China and government during this difficult time, I wish all the affected communities a swift recovery and resumption of normal life.”
