(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Ambassador to France Luy David said Thailand’s ambassador had sought the assistance of a third-country envoy to persuade him not to raise the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute at the Francophonie forum.

David rejected the reported request, saying he would continue raising Thailand’s aggressive actions and defending Cambodia’s national interests on the international stage.

"How ridiculous!" he wrote on his social media on Wednesday (Sep. 2), adding that Cambodia has a duty to uphold the truth and inform the international community about which party is the aggressor and which is the victim.

Cambodia has maintained that it remains committed to resolving the border dispute peacefully and in accordance with international law, while continuing to raise its concerns at regional and international forums.

At the recent 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC-2) in Phnom Penh, senior Cambodian leaders, including Senate President Hun Sen, National Assembly President Khuon Sudary, Prime Minister Hun Manet, and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, reiterated Cambodia’s position on the border dispute and condemned Thailand’s violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
