(Phnom Penh): Kim Chang-yong, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia, underscored the important role of Cambodian alumni in strengthening people-to-people ties and expanding cooperation between Cambodia and Korea.

Ambassador Kim spoke at the 2026 Cambodia-Korea Alumni Reunion, held at Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh on Wednesday (Sep. 2) and hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Cambodia.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Kim encouraged Cambodian alumni who studied or received training in Korea to apply their knowledge and experience, share their expertise, mentor younger generations, and continue serving as bridges between the two countries.

He highlighted the contributions of various alumni networks and programmes, including the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), Lee Jong-wook Fellowship, KB-KAIST, and military alumni networks, to fostering closer Cambodia-Korea relations.

Ambassador Kim also encouraged alumni to use the knowledge and experience gained in Korea to contribute to Cambodia’s national development and further deepen cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Cambodian Minister of Education, Youth and Sport Hang Chuon Naron described the reunion as a testament to the close cooperation between Cambodia and Korea in education, training, and human resource development.

The minister also called on Cambodian alumni to continue strengthening their capacities, sharing knowledge, and serving as bridges connecting Cambodia and Korea.
