(Phnom Penh): Anna Sophie ABE, Founder and CEO of Etoile Performing Arts, with support from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, is distributing 300 copies of her debut bilingual children’s picture book, “Land of Chimes in the Time of Quiet,” to public primary schools nationwide.
Anna Sophie authored and illustrated the book, which is written in Khmer and accessible English.
“Land of Chimes in the Time of Quiet” encourages children to recognize the value of their voices, share their ideas respectfully, and take an active part in their communities.
With the cooperation of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the books will be distributed to 40 public primary schools in Phnom Penh. Copies will also reach public primary schools in border regions, where many children have been displaced by conflict.
“This picture book reminds Cambodian children that every voice matters and that they can speak up within their communities,” said Anna Sophie ABE during the handover ceremony. “I hope it encourages each child to see themselves as an active contributor to building a stronger and better society.”
In recognition of this contribution to primary education, Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, presented Anna Sophie ABE with a Certificate of Appreciation. The certificate commended her support for community education and Cambodian primary-school students through this nationwide book-distribution initiative.
