(Phnom Penh): The United Kingdom and Cambodia signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation against online scams, fraud and transnational organised crime, according to the British Embassy in Cambodia.

The MoU was signed by Lord Hanson, Minister of State at the UK Home Office, and Sar Sokha, Cambodian Interior Minister, on Wednesday (Sep. 23).

The Embassy said the agreement represents a significant step towards stronger collaboration between our two countries.

Under the agreement, the UK and Cambodia will strengthen cooperation, share expertise and support joint efforts to disrupt criminal networks, hold perpetrators accountable and protect vulnerable people from fraud and exploitation.

The agreement sends a clear message that those who profit from fraud, exploitation and organised crime will face an increasingly coordinated international response, the Embassy added.
