(Phnom Penh): Neth Savoeun, Deputy Prime Minister and Vice Chairman of Cambodia’s Commission on Combating Online Scams, said Cambodia has been at the forefront of enacting Law on Combating Online Scams, reaffirming the government’s determination to dismantle criminal networks through strict law enforcement.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the International Conference on Combating Online scams (ICCOS-2026) on Thursday (Sep. 24), Neth Savoeun said sustained crackdowns, investigations, prosecutions and severe penalties are essential to tackling scam networks at their roots.

He added that Cambodia has been at the forefront of enacting Law on Combating Online Scams, alongside arrests, prosecutions and deportations, technical measures to disrupt scam operations, tighter administrative controls over high-risk locations, and strengthened governance and anti-corruption efforts.

On the occasion, the deputy prime minister underlined that legal and enforcement measures must continue until such crimes are eradicated from Cambodia, while stressing that strong international cooperation remains essential to tackling cross-border criminal networks.

Cambodia’s Law on Combating Online Scams entered into force on 7 April 2026. This law establishes criminal provisions to enhance the effectiveness of combating online scams, with the aim of preserving and protecting security and public social order, and strengthening cooperation in combating these crimes.
