(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Chinese Vice Minister of Public Security Yang Weilin welcomed growing Cambodia-China security cooperation, particularly in combating transnational crime and online scams.

The premier received a courtesy call from Yang Weilin and his delegation at the Peace Palace on Wednesday (Sep. 23).

During the meeting, Yang Weilin highlighted stronger bilateral ties, including the expansion of the Cambodia-China dialogue framework from 2+2 to 3+3, incorporating Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior and China’s Ministry of Public Security.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed cooperation in security, information sharing and capacity building for Cambodian law enforcement officers.

On online scams, the premier reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to eradicating such crimes from its territory, stressing that international cooperation is essential.

Both sides also discussed tourism and people-to-people exchanges, with Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraging more Chinese tourists to visit Cambodia.
