(Phnom Penh): The Secretariats of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC), representing Cambodia’s Military Region 4 and Thailand’s Army Area 2, held an informal meeting on Tuesday (Sep. 29) at the Choam-Sa Ngam International Border Checkpoint in Anlong Veng District, Oddar Meanchey Province.

According to Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, the meeting took place at 11:00 a.m. in response to an invitation from the Cambodian RBC Secretariat of Military Region 4, under the observation of the ASEAN Observer Teams (AOTs) from both sides.

The Cambodian delegation was led by Brigadier General Nit Narong, Head of the Cambodian RBC Secretariat, while the Thai delegation was led by Major General Kamphanat Waphansu, Head of the Thai RBC Secretariat.

According to the spokesperson, during the informal meeting, both parties discussed continuing to promote the full and effective implementation of the contents of the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC), dated 27 December 2025, including operational coordination and resolution of various issues to build mutual trust.

The ministry reaffirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia's firm, sincere, and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on 27 December 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on 26 October 2025, and all other relevant agreements, with a view to achieving the swift improvement of the situation and the restoration of normalcy, peace, and long-term stability.
