(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet rejected reports that frontline troops are surviving on rice with salt, warning that unverified claims could undermine military morale.
Speaking on Thursday (Oct. 1) at the inauguration of National Road No. 10, the premier said frontline troops have sufficient food supplies from the Ministry of National Defence, emergency reserves and donor contributions.
“The Royal Government will not allow any soldier or member of the armed forces to go without food,” he said.
He acknowledged that supplies may occasionally be delayed in remote areas but underlined that frontline units maintain emergency food reserves.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet urged the public to verify information before sharing it, while encouraging genuine reports of shortages to be submitted through his official social media page for investigation.
